Asur season 2 is a sequel to the web series
Asur: Welcome to Your Dark Side that aired in 2020. Set
against a backdrop of forensic science and deep Indian
mysticism, season 2 once again puts the spotlight on Shubh

Directed by Oni Sen and
produced by Bombay Fables,
Asur 2 began streaming in June
2023 on Jio Cinema.
Asur 2 marks the return of its two protagonists - the

Dressing it Up
The production design for Asur 2 was unique and
involved multiple locations - Delhi, Manali, Banaras, and
Mumbai. We had to ensure that each space was
distinct and complemented the character it
represented. Our biggest challenge was to retain the
authenticity and continuity from season 1, given that
almost all the characters were already established.
Besides dressing up the locations that represented the
characters’ homes, we also constructed sets for the
fictional Anti-Terror Force, CFSL, and Shubh’s den. The
scale and scope of the set design was huge! From
designing the human computer, Ashwathhama, to
designing a tiny device like a Bluetooth, and everything
else in between, it took us an entire year of discussions
and brainstorming, to get the sets up and going!

Final Stage Stills
Asur 2 unfolds against a backdrop of artificial intelligence and modern technology, with Shubh’s den being
the hub of hi-tech systems and processes. The director’s brief for the den was that it had to be remote. So,
we chose a secluded house in Manali, nestled amidst the mountains. The highlight of the den was
Ashwathhama, towering at 15 feet, which we constructed from scratch in a record three days. Constructing
the CFSL set was the next challenge! Since I was not a part of the show’s first season, I had to rely on floor
plans and screen grabs from Asur 1. For the ATF set, we repurposed a deserted factory that was
inoperational from the outside, much like real-life secret mission offices would be.
